The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) seeks a full-time, non-exempt Accreditation Assistant.  The position is responsible for administrative functions within the organization, including primary reception and receiving functions.  Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access (or other related data software applications).  Candidates must be professional; team-based but self-motivated; innovative but in keeping within the expressed operations model; and able to discern operations requirements in conjunction with day-to-day duties.  ABHES is a non-profit corporation located in Falls Church, Virginia, and is a recognized accreditation association by the U.S. Department of Education.  Additional information may be viewed at
Primary Duties: 
Mainline Telephone (membership inquiries and distribution of calls; field calls)
Mail Management (receipt, log, and distribution)
Administrative assistance to personnel, as directed
Create correspondence, reports, tables, and presentations, as directed
Database entry and maintenance
Assistance with general office equipment and supplies
Assistance with kitchen and catering maintenance
Assistance with meeting preparations and activities
Assistance with workshop-related and conference activities
Assistance with general Accounting using QuickBooks software.
Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned, and in accordance with demonstrated abilities
Bachelor’s Degree (desired, but not required)
Four plus years of administrative assistant experience
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Type 50+wpm (accurately)
General understanding of QuickBooks software (desired but not required).

ABHES is lucky to have an array of individuals interested in serving as volunteer committee members. These individuals work tirelessly in promoting and securing ABHES’ place in health education accreditation.  Committee appointments are considered annually, typically in June, by the Commission Chair, and terms begin July 1.
