Update on ABHES National Conference on Allied Health Education

Happy New Year!  With 2012 now upon us, the countdown has begun to our 9th Annual National Conference on Allied Health Education. The conference will be held February 22-24, 2012, at the ultra luxurious Encore at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort just steps from the infamous Las Vegas Strip!

You will not want to miss this year’s keynote address, “Embracing New Challenges with Humor”, presented by Dr. Clifford C. Kuhn, an award-winning professional trainer, personal coach and author.  In his entertaining presentation, the Laugh Doctor will show us how humor can be an effective tool for us to be at our best, professionally and personally.

This year’s conference is chock-full of breakout sessions focused on those issues most current and relevant to allied health care education.  The Conference will begin with two complementary pre-conference breakout sessions from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, followed by a welcome wine and cheese reception for all registered attendees from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  All other sessions will be held Thursday-Friday, February 23-24, 2012, with the conference concluding by approximately 12:30 p.m.

A new complementary pre-conference session has just been added from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, titled “ABHES Updates: Partnering Towards Compliance”.  ABHES is providing this informative session to cover a variety of topics, including tools and tips for submitting responses electronically; program modifications and recognition of out-of-class work and preparation; and the substantive change approval process.  This session is designed to share ABHES requirements with its accredited institutions and programs resulting from the changes in federal regulations. Participants will learn the Commission’s expectations relative to these topics and more. School personnel are encouraged to bring sample documents to share during the session.

The 5th Annual Golf Tournament will be held at the Desert Pines Golf Club, “A Dye-designed touch of the Carolinas in Las Vegas”, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 22, 2012.  A separate $139 registration fee is required to participate.

REGISTER NOW by simply visiting the ABHES website at www.abhes.org.  Registrations for all events (conference, workshops, golf tournament) are to be completed online.  All major U.S. credit cards (American Express, Visa, and MasterCard) are accepted.
