Subject: Call for Comment – Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology Standards
The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES or the Commission) considered proposed changes to the programmatic accreditation standards, as recommended by the Programmatic Accreditation Committees for Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology (PAC-MA and PAC-ST), outlined in Chapter VII of the Accreditation Manual. Revisions to the remaining programmatic accreditation standards, Medical Laboratory Technology, were recently approved and implemented, effective immediately.
Proposed new language is underlined, deleted language is
struck. The Commission requests your review and consideration of these proposals and comment.
Please use the survey link provided in the e-mail that attaches this document to provide your comments. Comments are due on or before July 10, 2012, for consideration by the Commission at its July 2012 meeting. It is expected any changes to these programmatic accreditation standards will be implemented and effective January 1, 2013. You are reminded that these standards apply to any institution offering a medical assisting or surgical technology program.
