On Thursday, September 17, 2009, we celebrate Constitution Day. Institutions receiving Federal funding, including Title IV financial aid, are required to hold a program pertaining to the United States Constitution for all students attending the institution. Examples of activities that meet the requirement are readings of the constitution aloud in a group setting; displaying posters throughout the institution with articles and asking students to comment in writing on a particular amendment, and playing games that include questions about the constitution.
The regulations for complying with Constitution Day, issued by the U.S. Department of Education in May 2005 allow institutions the ability to be creative with their activities.
Visit The National Constitution Center at www.constitutioncenter.org for additional information and to obtain educational materials to assist in developing your program.
