Call for 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award Nominations


 Attention ABHES Member Institutions/Programs & Interested Parties:

 
ABHES will present its first Lifetime Achievement Award in honor and memory of Carol A. Moneymaker, Former Executive Director, for her long-term commitment andtireless work that has had a significant impact on the field of accreditation and higher education, specifically within the ABHES community.
 
The Lifetime Achievement Award will recognize and promote individuals who have made a significant contribution to private, postsecondary institutions over a sustained period of time. Entries should be emailed to itips@abhes.org, with Lifetime Achievement Nomination noted in the subject area, and must be received on or before Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
 
Eligibility
The Lifetime Achievement Award is to be bestowed to an individual who has:
 
  • An established history of distinguished service and/or leadership roles that spans an entire career
  • Made a lasting contribution to the industry. These contributions may be an innovation, new knowledge, development of leaders or improvements to professional practice. The contributions should be above and beyond the everyday and either has or is predicted to have a lasting impact in the sector.
  • Exhibited leadership and provided inspiration to others in the sector
  • A consistent record of advocacy for the industry and dedication to furthering post-secondary education  (e.g., workforce, legislative efforts, promoting visibility, interprofessional collaboration)
 
Nominees should have:
  • Made a positive impact on the sector [at either state/territory or national level]
  • Twenty (20) years, or more, of sustained service to the industry
  • Earned recognition by other industry, training, education or employer groups
  • The respect of professional peers
  • General acknowledgement as having reached a pinnacle of their profession or industry;
  • Demonstrated, over an extended period of time, a contribution which has included either research, industry achievement, professional leadership and service to the private, postsecondary community
 
Retirees who are currently not working in the sector are eligible for this award.
 
One winning entry will be selected by ABHES. The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2018 will attend the 15th Annual National Conference on Allied Health Education at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 28 - March 2, 2018 as a guest* of ABHES. Nominations
 
Overview
Provide a short overview of the person, their achievements and the reason for the nomination in 1000 words or less.
 
Applicants will be assessed against the following criteria:
 
History of service
The nominee’s history of service to the sector - in particular, positions of leadership the nominee has held, such as on boards or as chair of committees. Any other known history, such as participation on committees and workgroups, and any examples of the nominee representing the sector officially as a liaison to other organizations or at state or national meetings.
 
Significant contribution and positive influence on the sector
The nominee’s significant contribution(s) to the advancement of vocational education and training practice, including teaching or training positions or programs, awards or recognition from professional or industry groups and institutions, innovative approaches to difficulties. How will the nominee’s story inspire others to higher standards in their work or to raise the communities’ perception of the sector?
 
Leadership
The nominee’s leadership in the field of vocational education and training including, but not limited to, positively influencing policy or practice on a state, national or international level. This may include government committees and workgroups, advocacy, senior positions, other training, mentoring or committee participation. Explanation of how have they “made a difference”?
 
Submission Guidelines
Entries should be emailed to itips@abhes.org, with Lifetime Achievement Nomination noted in the subject area.  Entries are limited to one nomination per ABHES-accredited institution or program, and must be received by December 15, 2017.
