Program Specialists in Demand

The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) continuously seeks program specialists to ensure a continued pool of qualified and trained individuals to serve on site visit teams.  Educators and practitioners in numerous health care disciplines are in demand, including:

Cardiovascular Technology (CVT)
Dental Assisting (DA)
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)
Medical Assisting (MA)
Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Pharmacy Technology (PT)
Radiologic Technology (RT)
Surgical Technology (ST)

Practitioners are most in demand for the three fields ABHES accredits programmatically (MA, MLT, and ST).  Part-time or evening faculty may practice during the day and program directors, faculty, and externship or placement coordinators are urged to use their contacts at externship sites and advisory committees to solicit full- and part-time practitioners to become involved in the accreditation process. Additionally, individuals possessing an expertise in the use of distance education delivery are also in demand.

While serving as an evaluator requires time away from work and home, the benefits of participating in on-site evaluation visits are immeasurable.  Not only does the training and participation heighten one’s level of awareness and understanding of accreditation requirements, but also provides the ability to observe from the inside how other institutions and programs operate. Participating on an evaluation team is an invaluable experience.

Visit, Evaluator link, to learn more about the minimum qualifications and training requirements.  Feel free to provide this information to individuals within and outside of your organization who you believe may be interested and qualified. All travel expenses are reimbursed and a small daily honorarium for participation on site visits is provided. Our next evaluator training workshops, one general and one specializing in surgical technology, are being held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nevada, prior to the Career College Association (CCA) convention. Visit, Events link, for details and registration.

Program specialists interested in becoming on-site evaluators should provide a letter of interest and current curriculum vitae to Laura Tache at or send by mail to the address above.
